Patriots QB Behren Morton Will Get Drake Maye Coffee From Starbucks, 'Whatever He Needs' After Draft
New England Patriots' seventh-round pick, quarterback Behren Morton, is a year older than Drake Maye and was in his same high school recruiting class.
But he's ready to fetch the coffee for the quarterbacks room, if needed.
"I'm really looking forward to picking his brain about what he's done in the league so far. He's been very successful this last year. So I'm going to do whatever it takes," he told Chris Harris of MassLive.com. "If he needs a coffee from Starbucks, I'm there for Drake. Whatever he needs throughout this process, I'm here for him."
Maye and Morton go back some time, so no introduction will be needed.
"We were Elite 11 finalists. We went to Tennessee," Morton said. "I got to know him there. He's a great dude. He's a young guy that I can learn from. Obviously had a tremendous season last year. So getting to learn from him this year, and also Tommy DeVito, this is going to be a great opportunity for me and I'm really excited about it."
As a seventh-round pick, Morton is no guarantee to make the 53-man roster. But he's certainly saying the right things thus far.
