Shaq's Daughter Me'Arah O'Neal Makes Transfer Decision After Florida Stint
Former Florida forward Me'Arah O'Neal is transferring to Kentucky, according to On3's Talia Goodman.
The sophomore is the daughter of Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal.
She averaged 13.6 points on 52.9 percent shooting and 6.4 rebounds in 33 games with the Gators this past season.
O'Neal showed particular improvement with her range. She doubled her number of made threes from 18 to 37, and her three-point percentage jumped from 27.7 to 38.1.
Going from Florida to Kentucky is a step up. The Gators went 18-15 and failed to make the NCAA tournament this season, while the Wildcats won 25 games and reached the Sweet 16. It was the first time they advanced that far since 2016.
Coach Kenny Brooks is trying to build on that success by landing a trio of 4-star recruits: point guard Maddyn Greenway, small forward Savvy Swords and combo guard Emily McDonald.
O'Neal is UK's third addition through the portal. UConn forward Ayanna Patterson and Alabama guard Diana Collins are on their way to Lexington as well.
