Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury, Kristian Prenga Fights Set in Return to Boxing After KO vs. Jake Paul
Star heavyweight Anthony Joshua has officially lined up his next moves after his highlight knockout win over Jake Paul in December.
Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, announced on Monday that the 36-year-old has signed a contract for a fight against Tyson Fury, though a date wasn't revealed.
If that wasn't enough, HE Turki Alalshikh announced that Joshua will face Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
"It's no secret I've taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring and today is the next step on that journey," Joshua said in a statement. "I'm delighted to have agreed to a multi-fight deal starting with July 25th in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I'm looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off. As I said, the landlord will collect his rent. That is certain."
Joshua and Fury have circled each other for years. Both of them are former heavyweight champions and among the most popular fighters in the world. Fans will certainly rejoice when a fight between them finally comes to fruition.
But first, Joshua will return to the ring against Prenga, who is 20-1 with all of his wins coming by KO or TKO. The 35-year-old made it clear that he's looking to play spoiler on July 25.
"Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, but he made a terrible miscalculation in picking me as his opponent," he said. "This is the kind of fight that changes everything in my life and his. I know they have big plans ahead after this fight. I know they are overlooking me. I'm happy about that. I will derail their plans and shock the world."
It sounds like Joshua and Fury are locked in for a future bout regardless of his result against Prenga, so fans could finally see one of the most anticipated fights in recent memory by the end of this year.
