Keon Coleman Drew Trade Interest, Bills GM Reveals Message to Teams Before 2026 NFL Draft
The Buffalo Bills resisted outside trade interest in wide receiver Keon Coleman ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
"We shut those down," general manager Brandon Beane said Monday on WGR 550. "Our intention is for Keon to be here, so the word was out, so no calls this weekend. We've hit the reset button with him and hopefully the fanbase and everyone is behind him. I think his best year is yet to come here in 2026."
Coleman's performance has fallen short of expectations through two seasons. He has caught 67 passes for 960 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 appearances. His effort behind the scenes has drawn some constructive criticism from his own teammates as well.
It looked like things reached a point of no return when team owner Terry Pegula went out of his way to imply Beane wasn't all that thrilled to take Coleman in the 2024 draft from the jump:
But Beane's newest comments echo what he said in March. He pointed to Joe Brady's promotion from offensive coordinator to head coach as a chance for Coleman to start fresh in 2026.
The theme continued through the draft:
Buffalo's offseason business has provided tangible evidence of the organization's belief in the 22-year-old pass-catcher.
Acquiring DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears was a big move to address the receiving corps, but Moore's presence doesn't necessary crowd out Coleman. The Bills have yet to sign a wideout, and they only used a fourth-round pick (Skyler Bell) on the position in the draft.
Coleman should have a platform to prove his doubters wrong. Whether he capitalizes on the opportunity is a different question.
