Roman Anthony Says 'A Lot of S--t's Going On,' But Red Sox Can Win World Series Despite Cora Firing
The Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora on Saturday amidst the team's disappointing start to the season, a decision that didn't sit well with the players.
Nonetheless, Roman Anthony is trying to remain optimistic.
"We can still win the World Series," he told reporters. "I know people on the outside probably don't agree with that, and a lot of s--t's going on right now. But for us, and for myself—at least I can speak for myself—the standard for me remains the same. My commitment to this team, this city, these people, is still the exact same. I still feel the same way. I love where I play, and I want to be here for a long time."

Other players were a bit more candid with their frustrations over the Red Sox making Cora the scapegoat for what has been a rough 11-17 start.
Trevor Story said that Cora, hitting coach Peter Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, bench coach Ramón Vázquez, assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson and major-league hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin—who were all fired—"didn't get a fair shot" and added that it's "kind of up in the air what the true direction of the franchise is."
Story also said the clubhouse wasn't consulted before the front office gutted the coaching staff.
"If this shows us anything, it's we're here to play baseball, and that's it," he told reporters. "We don't make decisions. We don't have any input on that."
It's hard to compete for titles when the locker room doesn't trust ownership or the front office. Playing through that disconnect will be a test for these Red Sox.
