Ravens Owner Steve Bisciotti Made Call on 5th-Rounder After 'Begging for a Draft Pick'

Scott PolacekApr 26, 2026

By all indications, Baltimore Ravens majority owner Steve Bisciotti lets the organization's football side make the decisions when the NFL draft arrives.

But the team gave him a chance to make a pick in 2026.

"When we were down in Florida, Steve was begging for a draft pick and he owns the team. I said, 'Yes, Steve, of course you can have a draft pick,'" Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta said, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official website.

"So we decided on our last fifth-round pick. He did his research and studied the tape, talked to people. He has a really good relationship with the Clemson head coach [Dabo Swinney]."

Bisciotti, who has been the team's majority owner since 2004, decided on Clemson running back Adam Randall with the No. 174 overall selection.

Randall dealt with a torn ACL and broken bones in his hands during his collegiate career. He also converted from wide receiver to running back and, per Mink, has the nickname "Baby Julio" because his combination of athleticism (4.5-second 40-yard dash) and size (6'3" and 232 pounds) remind some of Julio Jones.

If he comes anywhere close to playing like Jones, Bisciotti will get deserved credit for what was described as his first selection in his time as owner.

Randall only saw significant time at running back during the 2025 campaign for the Tigers and responded with 814 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground to go with 36 catches for 254 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver.

His playing time might be limited early in his career considering the Ravens also have Derrick Henry and Justice Hill at running back, but he believes there is a spot for him in the same backfield as Henry and Lamar Jackson.

"We're going to do some damage with all three of us in the backfield," Randall said. "I think my receiving ability out of the backfield makes me a matchup nightmare."

Bisciotti clearly thinks that as well given his decision.
