Dark Horse Contender: Danon Bourbon

2 of 2
152nd Kentucky Derby - Previews

The three-year-old dark colt will race in its first American race at Churchill Downs, as grand a stage as one could make their debut on.

His father, Maxfield, earned victories at the track and was a championship-winning horse, winning eight of his 11 races, per Danon Bourbon's Kentucky Derby profile.

An undefeated racer in three starts in Japan, he has the opportunity to expand his domination to the United States and do so with 20-1 odds.

He is evolving as a racer, competing in longer races as he goes, but he has yet to compete in an event as long as, and against the type of competition as, the Kentucky Derby. That is a reason to be cautious when placing bets, but he is young, has speed, and has the pedigree that one looks for from potential Derby winners.
