Jerry Jones Drops Epic Quote After Cowboys Trade with Rival Eagles in 2026 NFL Draft 1st Round
The Dallas Cowboys turned some heads when they traded first-round picks with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.
While trading with a rival isn't always ideal, owner Jerry Jones knows that it's just business. He also dropped a legendary quote when asked about trading with the Eagles.
"If I eliminated (trading with) all the teams that I wanted to beat their ass, you wouldn't have anybody left to trade with," Jones told reporters.
The Cowboys sent their No. 20 overall pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Eagles in return for the No. 23 pick and two fourth-round picks. Dallas used the No. 23 pick to take UCF edge Malachi Lawrence, while Philadelphia drafted USC receiver Makai Lemon at No. 20.
The first-round trade with their rivals should be considered a win, as the Cowboys managed to address a major need on defense while landing a few more picks later on in the draft.
