Jaguars' Liam Coen Reveals 'Dream' About Nate Boerkircher in Video After 2026 NFL Draft Pick
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen had an actual dream come true during the 2026 NFL draft.
Speaking to reporters after Day 2 of the draft on Friday, Coen explained he dreamed that the Jaguars landed Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher at some point.
It turns out that point was the No. 56 overall pick because the Jaguars used it to select Boerkircher, fulfilling Coen's fantasy of having him on their roster.
This was apparently a dream that Coen made public because before he started speaking, Jaguars general manager James Gladstone encouraged him to share the vision he had.
Coen had some extra time to drift off because the Jaguars didn't go on the clock until Friday. They traded their first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns last year to move up and select Travis Hunter.
Tight end didn't stand out as an immediate need for Jacksonville. Brenton Strange had a breakout year in 2025 with 540 yards and three touchdowns, finishing third on the team in both categories.
Strange will be entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2026, and more teams have employed multiple tight-end sets as part of their offensive philosophy, so Coen is in floating on air now that he can enter the fray.
Boerkircher was regarded as one of the biggest reaches of the draft so far. He was ranked as the No. 185 prospect in this class by B/R's NFL scouting department, but went 129 spots before that when the Jaguars took him.
The 24-year-old never had more than 200 receiving yards in five college seasons. His career high was 198 yards and three touchdowns in 2025 for the Aggies.
