'You Can't Fix It All in 1 Weekend,' Dolphins GM Reacts to NFL Draft Questions After Day 2

Adam WellsApr 25, 2026

Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is taking a long-term view of the roster when questioned about the team not addressing their pass-rush through the first two days of the 2026 NFL draft.

Asked specifically about not taking any EDGE players, Sullivan's told reporters "you can't fix it all in one weekend."

Miami entered the draft with a need at virtually every position after the new regime of Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley tore things down when they were hired.

The Dolphins started the draft by taking Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson in the first round. Their only defensive selection on Friday was Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in the second round.

EDGE is certainly high on the list of Dolphins' needs. Bradley Chubb, who led the team in sacks last season, was among a long list of players Miami released early in the offseason.

There are recent high draft picks on the roster that the Dolphins will be counting on their internal development to boost their pass-rush.

Chop Robinson, a first-round pick in 2024, showed promise as a rookie with eight tackles for loss and six sacks in 17 games. He took a step back last year with four tackles for loss and four sacks, but a new defensive scheme under Hafley could unlock his potential.

Defensive tackle Kenneth Grant was the No. 13 overall pick last year. He could be in line for an expanded role after being used primarily as a a rotation player during his rookie campaign.

Sullivan's comment is one preaching patience, which Dolphins fans should afford this new regime because they are essentially starting from scratch given how disastrous the cap situation was that they are trying to clean up.
