Latest NFL Draft Day 2 Trade Rumors Link 49ers, Cardinals, Bills to Talks Ahead of 'Busy' Night

Adam WellsApr 24, 2026

After eight trades during the first round of the 2026 NFL draft, Friday night could start with even more activity right out of the gate.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the teams with the first three picks in the second round — the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills — have all received calls from teams ahead of what could be a "busy" night for trades.

Schultz added that the 49ers are "very open" to moving down to add more picks, with several targets on their board who they believe would be gettable after pick 33.

The top of the second round is frequently a haven for moves with teams looking to secure players they might have had a first-round grade on who fell down the board for whatever reason.

Last year, for instance, six of the first nine picks in round two were traded by the team originally slotted to make the selection.

There have already been two trades involving picks at the top of the second round. The 49ers moved down twice on Thursday and out of the first round altogether, setting up the No. 33 pick to be their first selection of the draft.

Buffalo is slotted in at No. 35 right now after also moving down twice to add more selections to its cache.

The 49ers and Bills are among eight teams that have yet to make a pick in the draft. The Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars are also waiting to get involved.

In a Day 2 mock from B/R's NFL scouting department, the 49ers are projected to kick things off by taking Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston.

As things currently stand, the Niners have seven picks with none after the fifth round. The Cardinals, who took Jeremiyah Love at No. 3 overall, have one pick remaining in each of the final six rounds. The Bills have nine picks, including three in the fourth round.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have the most total picks in the draft with 12, including their first-round selection of Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor.

Seattle has the fewest picks remaining with three after selecting Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price at No. 32 overall to close out round one on Thursday.

The 2026 NFL draft resumes on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
