Mets' Huascar Brazoban Says 'Oh F--k,' Explains Viral Video of Bullpen Blunder with Devin Williams
Even as the New York Mets find themselves on a hot streak with back-to-back wins, they still have a moment during games that reminds you they'll never fully be able to get out of their own way.
Thursday night featured a humorous moment when Huascar Brazobán mistakenly went to the mound to start the ninth inning against the Minnesota Twins as closer Devin Williams was jogging in from the bullpen.
Speaking to reporters after the Mets' 10-7 win, Brazobán, along with interpreter Alan Suriel, addressed the "oh, f--k" moment when he realized the mistake.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza explained the situation was caused by a mistranslation because Brazobán was going to go back out in the ninth if the game was tied, but Williams was coming in if they took the lead in the bottom of the eighth.
Brazobán gave up a game-tying grand slam to Ryan Jeffers in the top of the eighth. The Mets responded in the bottom of the frame with Bo Bichette's three-run double to go back on top.
Williams' full entrance, which features "Hypnotize" by Notorious B.I.G. on the sound system, went off as the Mets took the field for the ninth inning before he had to retreat to the bullpen.
Brazobán wound up getting the first out the inning, then Williams took over and recorded the final two outs to give New York its second straight win after 12 straight losses from April 8-21.
At least the incident happened during a win because if the Mets had lost this game and had the bullpen miscue, everyone in Queens would have abandoned whatever shred of hope they have left for the 2026 season.
