Yankees' Cam Schlittler Compares Red Sox Fans' Heckling at Fenway to Online Abuse
Cam Schlittler got his first taste of being a member of the New York Yankees playing at Fenway Park on Thursday.
After tossing eight innings in New York's 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox, Schlittler told reporters the heckling he received from the crowd wasn't any worse than what people post online:
"There was a couple things but, again, Cody (Charneski, a Yankees producer of digital and social content) is out there with the camera, so I think that'll limit that. Not too bad. I think you overestimate how many genuine people are out there compared to online. So it's a good feeling. I had a lot of buddies out there watching."

Thursday was the 20th MLB start for Schlittler since making his big-league debut last July. His only previous appearance against the Red Sox was in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card series last October when he struck out 12 over eight shutout innings to send the Yankees to the ALDS.
Schlittler, who grew up a Red Sox fan in Walpole, told Joel Sherman of the New York Post in the lead up to his start that his family was receiving death threats online.
"Most normal fans could care less, right?" Schlittler said. "It's just those diehards that just have nothing else in their lives other than baseball or sports that really care about this, and the fact that I play for the Yankees makes it worse for them."
Schlittler added that he didn't feel the need to get law enforcement involved to look into the threats.
The 25-year-old continued his incredible start to the season and career with another great outing against the Red Sox. He allowed just four hits and one run with five strikeouts on Thursday.
Schlittler has a 1.77 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 35.2 innings through six starts in 2026. The Yankees swept their three-game series in Boston and have won six straight overall.
