Aaron Glenn Explains Why David Bailey Was 'Better Fit' for Jets Over Arvell Reese in 2026 NFL Draft

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed why the team chose Texas Tech edge-rusher David Bailey over Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Glenn told reporters that Bailey was a "better fit" for the Jets due to his size and production.

New York was linked to both Bailey and Reese during the pre-draft process.

Bailey is coming off a strong 2025 season with the Red Raiders, as his 14.5 sacks were tied for the most in the nation. He also racked up 52 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, three forces fumbles and three passes defended.

As for Reese, he picked up 69 tackles and 10 tackles for loss to go along with 6.5 sacks during his 2025 campaign.

Bailey is listed at just over 6'3" and 251 pounds while Reese is listed at just over 6'4" and 241 pounds.

The New York Giants ended up selecting Reese with the No. 5 overall pick on Thursday night after the Jets added Bailey.
