The first round of the 2026 draft is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
McShay wrote that he projected the Eagles as the only team to trade for a top-15 pick because "there's no chance Howie Roseman sits still and watches teams like Detroit and Pittsburgh take the OT he wants ahead of the Eagles."
"I know for a fact that Tampa Bay and the Jets are already fielding calls from teams about potential on-the-clock deals, and Tampa has a few holes to fill and will gladly move back eight spots to pick up additional draft capital," McShay wrote.
The Eagles have been projected to trade up for an offensive tackle by multiple analysts heading into this week's draft.
NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah projected in his final mock that the Eagles will make a similar trade for the Bucs' No. 15 pick, then use the selection to select Alabama's Kadyn Proctor.
Freeling was ranked as the No. 45 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle available in the draft on Bleacher Report's final big board.
B/R NFL scout Brandon Thorn described him as "a well-built, long tackle prospect with good athletic ability who is fluid in pass pro and can snipe backers in the run game."
Star right tackle Lane Johnson has confirmed he is returning to the Eagles for a 14th season, while left tackle Jordan Mailata is signed through 2028.
Given that Johnson will turn 36 in May, however, Roseman could decide to target the position in order to build around for the future. Should he ultimately decide to use a first-rounder on a tackle, Roseman will need to decide whether to trade up or wait to see who falls to No. 23.
