Mets Snap 12-Game Losing Streak with Win vs. Twins as Fans React to End of Historic Skid

Andrew PetersApr 22, 2026

The New York Mets' disastrous losing streak has finally come to an end.

The Mets downed the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on Wednesday, snapping a spell that saw them lose 12 games in a row. New York improved to 8-16 with the win.

Fans rejoiced after New York got back into the win column for the first time since April 7.

The Mets' streak was their longest since 2002 and was tied for the sixth-longest in franchise history, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo noted. Luckily for New York, it fell well short of its 17-game losing streak from 1962.

The win was far from the best performance from the Mets, but it was at least enough to get the job done. Francisco Lindor hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 in the first, and Francisco Alvarez made it 2-1 in the fourth after Minnesota responded to Lindor's opening-inning score.

Minnesota's Byron Buxton homered in the sixth to tie things up, but Mark Vientos delivered what would be the game-winning run in the eighth inning.

On the mound, Clay Holmes went seven innings, allowing five hits and a pair of runs while striking out three batters. From there, Brooks Raley and Luke Weaver closed things out.

While the Mets managed to avoid a 13th consecutive loss, they faced a bit of misfortune on Wednesday. Lindor was forced to exit because of left calf tightness, an injury that New York fans hope won't linger for very long.
