Saints, Eagles Make Trades in Daniel Jeremiah's Final NFL Mock Draft, 1 Team Moves Up for Ty Simpson

Andrew PetersApr 22, 2026

Ahead of Thursday's NFL draft, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah released a new mock draft that includes a handful of trades.

Jeremiah projected the New Orleans Saints to trade with the Arizona Cardinals and move up to No. 3 to take Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese. The trade he projected would send the No. 8 and 73 picks to the Cardinals, along with a 2027 first-round pick.

From there, Jeremiah had the Philadelphia Eagles trading with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to No. 15, where he had them taking Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

Jeremiah also had the Cardinals trading with the Buffalo Bills up to No. 26 to take Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.

While the Saints potentially trading their 2027 first-round pick with such a loaded class ahead might be a bit perplexing, Jeremiah explained that it could make sense given that they've already got their quarterback of the future in Tyler Shough.

Reese could also be well worth a future pick with how good he could become. Reese, who is the No. 4 overall player on Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department's final big board, recorded 69 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his final season with the Buckeys.

The Eagles, who currently have the No. 23 pick, could benefit tremendously from trading up for one of the best offensive tackles in the draft, especially after the subpar year they had on offense last season.

Proctor is the No. 33 overall player and the No. 2 offensive tackle on B/R's big board.

"This is a trade that makes a lot of sense as Philly gets their long-term answer for Lane Johnson's spot," Jeremiah explained. "But in the short-term, if anything goes wrong in the tackle spots, any injuries at guard, he can do that. But this is very much about 2027 as it is about 2026."

While Indiana's Fernando Mendoza is the clear No. 1 quarterback in this year's draft, Simpson appears to be the consensus second-best option. For a team like the Cardinals, who are desperate to find their franchise quarterback, trading up and taking a chance on Simpson isn't a bad idea.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department considers Simpson to be the No. 44 overall player and the No. 2 quarterback in the class.
