Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is a surefire pick to go No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. The draft truly begins at No. 2, where it seems as though projectors have one of two edge-rushers (Texas Tech's David Bailey or Ohio State's Arvell Reese) going to the New York Jets.

Jeremiah has the Jets going with Bailey, who amassed 14.5 sacks last year en route to unanimous All-American honors.

Reese didn't have to wait long to get picked in Jeremiah's draft, though, as he went third overall to the New Orleans Saints, who moved up nine spots to pick in the Cardinals' slot.

"If the Cardinals stay put at No. 3, I think Jeremiyah Love is the pick," Jeremiah wrote.

"If they are offered a 2027 first-round pick to trade down, that's going to be a tough deal for them to pass on. So, they take it in this scenario. The Saints have made 25 draft trades since 2008. They traded up in all 25 instances. Assistant GM Jeff Ireland was with the Cowboys when they drafted Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware, so he's aware of the difference an elite pass rusher can make. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley might be reminded of a player he's coached at multiple spots in his career, 2016 first-round pick Leonard Floyd."

Led by Cameron Jordan, Chase Young and Carl Granderson, the Saints' pass-rush is quite good. However, a team really can't have enough pass-rushers in a pass-first league, and Reese would be another chess piece for the Saints, who showed promise last year in the back half of the season with quarterback Tyler Shough guiding the offense.

Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles went to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4. The Titans already have a star defensive lineman in Jeffery Simmons, but the D could use more help after finishing fifth-last in points allowed per game. Styles could be the cornerstone of the defense for years as head coach Robert Saleh looks to get his first year at the helm off on the right foot.

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love went fifth overall to the New York Giants. Big Blue has big needs on both sides of the ball, including wide receiver, offensive line and all three levels on defense. Running back doesn't seem like a huge need with Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Cam Skattebo in the backfield, but Love is an amazing playmaker who could provide great help and another weapon for quarterback Jaxson Dart. In that same vein, the Giants doubled down on offensive weapons and took Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate 10th overall.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys, following a year where they finished last in scoring defense, took OSU safety Caleb Downs and UCF edge Malachi Lawrence. The Cardinals made another trade to move back into the first round to take Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, their signal-caller of the future. The New York Jets got their WR2 by picking up Indiana wideout Omar Cooper Jr. at 16th overall.

That marked four wideouts going in the top 16, with the Commanders taking Arizona State wideout Jordyn Tyson, the Giants selecting Tate and the Los Angeles Rams keeping USC wideout Makai Lemon in town.

The Philadelphia Eagles also made a huge move for an offensive tackle, adding Alabama's Kadyn Proctor to join a team that's had a great history with drafting and developing fantastic offensive linemen.
