C.J. Gardner-Johnson Rips Eagles Fans Amid A.J. Brown Trade Rumors, Patriots Links

Scott PolacekApr 22, 2026

C.J. Gardner-Johnson knows what it is like to play for the Philadelphia Eagles and then go elsewhere considering he suited up for the NFC East team in 2022 and again in 2024, and he had something to say to the club's fans Wednesday.

In response to rumors that A.J. Brown will be traded to the New England Patriots, Gardner-Johnson called out Eagles fans for loving players when they are winning and then turning on them:

This isn't the first time Gardner-Johnson has said something about Eagles fans.

After helping lead Philadelphia to the Super Bowl and tying for the league lead with six interceptions during the 2022 campaign, the defensive back ended up signing with the Detroit Lions in free agency for the 2023 season.

ESPN's Tim McManus noted after that decision he said Philadelphia fans were "f---ing obnoxious," adding, "I f---ing can't stand the f---ers."

When he returned to the Eagles for the 2024 campaign, he took to social media to apologize:

Things certainly worked out, as Philadelphia won the Super Bowl with him back on the roster. However, he played for the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears last season and is now a member of the Buffalo Bills.

Gardner-Johnson's latest comments come after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Brown being traded to the Patriots "is still on the table and still tracking to happen on or after June 1." He explained the wide receiver's $40 million salary cap charge will be split between 2026 and 2027 after June 1.

That means the trade will likely happen after June instead of during the NFL draft.

If that does happen, it will bring an end to Brown's tenure with the Eagles after four straight seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards. The team also won a Super Bowl during that span, and he remained a key playmaker for the offense even with rumors about his future circulating.

He would still be suiting up for a contender in New England and would look to help lead it back to a second consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
