Mets Trolled By Twins in Trending Post as Losing Streak Reaches 12 Games

Paul KasabianApr 21, 2026

The Minnesota Twins overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat the host New York Mets 5-3 and give them their 12th straight loss.

Afterwards, the Twins' social media team reminded people about things you can get in a dozen.

The Mets led 3-0, but the Twins scored two in the sixth, one in the seventh and two more in the ninth for the win.

"It sucks because you're feeling good, especially with the way the game was developing there," manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters after the game. "You watch Nolan kind of dominate pretty much a whole lineup there for the first five innings. Lindor sets the tone with a three-run homer. You feel like you're getting some momentum. But then after that, couldn't do anything else."

The Mets took a 3-0 lead thanks to Francisco Lindor's three-run homer, but the Twins fought back in the sixth after Byron Buxton's two-run shot to cut the lead to 3-2. Second baseman Luke Keaschall tied the game at three after a seventh-inning single.

The ninth inning was disastrous. Closer Devin Williams allowed all five of his batters to reach on a pair of walks, a sacrifice bunt in which all runners were safe, Keaschall's second RBI single and then a bases loaded walk for a 5-3 lead.

Austin Warren replaced Williams and then struck out three straight, but the damage was done. The Mets went down in order in the ninth and lost despite a 10-strikeout performance from starting pitcher Nolan McLean over 6.2 innings.

With the loss, the Mets tied their longest losing streak since 2002, when a team with high hopes to begin the season finished 75-86. That Mets team lost 12 in a row in August. New York's longest-ever losing streak is 17, set by the expansion 1962 squad.

On the happier side, the Twins moved over .500 at 12-11 overall. They sit second in the American League Central, a game behind the Cleveland Guardians.

The two teams will play again on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. ET. The Mets will activate superstar outfielder Juan Soto, who has been out since April 3 with a strained right calf.
