Shedeur Sanders Opens Up on Browns QB Competition with Deshaun Watson, Dillon Gabriel
Shedeur Sanders ended the season as the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback, but he'll have to earn that job again this offseason.
Sanders, who will compete with Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel for QB1, said he's going to focus on the things he can control this offseason.
"That's not up to me (who starts)," Sanders said, per The Athletic's Zac Johnson. "I go out there every day and focus on what I can control. If I focus on something I can't control, then I'll be living the wrong way."
Sanders added that he's heading into the offseason with a "renewed mindset" following his rookie season.
"There's a lot of new energy," Sanders said. "I'm loving what we're doing. I'm open to learning every day. I'm just coming here with a renewed mindset and just approaching life with a renewed mindset."
Sanders had an up-and-down rookie season, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight games. Gabriel appeared in 10 games, throwing for 937 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.
Watson is the veteran of the group, but has played in just 19 games since the end of the 2020 season. He last played in October of 2024.
