Tuesday Highlights

Bruins 4, Sabres 2

The Bruins bounced back from their Game 1 collapse, wrapping up an impressive performance against the Sabres at the KeyBank Center.

After a scoreless first period, Boston scored three times in the second with goals from Viktor Arvidsson, Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha.

Geekie's shot came from center ice, bouncing past Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

Zacha scored on a power play before the end of the period for Boston before Arvidsson tallied his second goal of the night to give the Bruins a 4-0 lead early in the third.

Buffalo showed signs of life late, recording two goals in just under two minutes during the third period.

The Sabres were ultimately unable to overcome the deficit before the final buzzer sounded, though.

Lightning 3, Canadiens 2

Both teams started off strong in the first period, as the Lighting took a 1-0 lead following a goal by Brandon Hagel before the Canadiens quickly tied the game at 1-1 following Lane Hutson's slap shot.

Hagel also had an eventful second period, as he was involved in a fight with Juraj Slafkovský.

Josh Anderson put Montreal in front with a goal in the second period, but Tampa Bay sent the game to overtime due to Nikita Kucherov's wrap-around goal in the third.

Just under 13 minutes into overtime, J.J. Moser's shot went over the glove of Jakub Dobes to give Tampa Bay a 3-2 victory.

The series will now head back to Montreal for Game 3 and Game 4.

Mammoth 3, Golden Knights 2

Vegas started the scoring with a wrist shot from Mark Stone in the first period, although Utah tied the contest at 1-1 just over five minutes later following a goal from MacKenzie Weegar.

Dylan Guenther's slap shot then gave the Mammoth their first lead of the game in the second period.

A backhand goal by Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev quickly tied the game once again.

While the two squads struggled to score to start the third period, Logan Cooley buried a rebound for Utah's go-ahead goal.

The Mammoth eventually held on for the win, as goaltender Karel Vejmelka recorded 19 saves.

Avalanche 2, Kings 1

For the second game in a row, the Avalanche outlasted the Kings 2-1 to take a 2-0 series lead, but this time they needed an overtime hero.

After more than two full periods of scoreless hockey, Artemi Panarin put the Kings on the board first with a power-play goal 13:04 into the third period:

However, the Avs answered just over three minutes later when captain Gabriel Landeskog tied it up, ultimately sending the game to overtime:

In the extra session, the star-studded Avalanche got a goal from a somewhat unexpected source, as trade deadline acquisition Nicolas Roy scored 7:44 into OT to give Colorado the win and a commanding series lead:

The Avalanche entered the series as massive favorites, and while they held up their end of the bargaining by winning the first two games at home, it has been far from easy.

Los Angeles has kept the games tightly contested, proving that it can hang with what was the best team in the NHL during the regular season.

The Avalanche and Kings will get back to it Thursday night when the Kings host the Avs in L.A. for Game 3.
