Matthew Stafford, Rams Agree to New Contract, Details Reportedly Revealed After NFL MVP Season
Reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford is officially tied to the Los Angeles Rams for the next two years.
The Rams announced Thursday that they have extended Stafford's contract.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Stafford's contract extension is for one-year and $55 million. The deal is worth up to $60 million with incentives.

Stafford now has two years and up to $105 million remaining on his contract with the Rams, per Schefter.
Stafford was previously signed through 2026 on his last two-year contract with the Rams, although he had told reporters he was considering retirement on a year-to-year basis.
The quarterback then confirmed when accepting his MVP award in February that he would be returning for an 18th NFL season.
Rams coach Sean McVay said in March that Stafford is "gonna be able to play as long as he's able to" (h/t NFL.com's Nick Shook).
"Whether that's one, two more, who knows, he might be one of those guys that plays late into his 40s and I wouldn't have a problem with that," McVay said in March, per Shook.
McVay then reiterated after the Rams selected Ty Simpson in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft the team would remain Stafford's going forward.
The Rams will now look to run things back with their star quarterback after he led them as far as the NFC title game in 2025.
Stafford played a full season last year for the first time since 2021 while leading the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns with just eight picks in the regular season.
He also led the league with 936 passing yards and six touchdown passes with just one pick in three playoff games before the Seattle Seahawks' defense shut down the Rams on their way to a Super Bowl championship.
The Rams will now hope Stafford can replicate his MVP run during his age-38 campaign in order to help his team make their first Super Bowl appearance since their championship 2021 season.
Rams general manager Les Snead already went in on that push earlier this offseason by signing and extending former Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie.
The Rams will hope addressing the struggles of their secondary from last season will help put this team on track for another deep playoff run behind Stafford next winter.
