Roman Reigns' Georgia Tech CFB Highlights Spotlighted in Trending Video After WWE WrestleMania Win
Before Roman Reigns became one of the greatest WWE Superstars of his generation, he was making a name for himself on the football field.
After Reigns defeated CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 42 on Sunday to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, a video surfaced of his highlights from his college football days as a defensive lineman at Georgia Tech:
Reigns was a three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets and a team captain in his senior year. He finished the 2006 season with 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries on his way to earning first-team All-ACC honors.
After going undrafted in 2007, Reigns had brief stints on the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars practice squads before signing with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. He played one season in the CFL in 2008 before hanging up his cleats for good.
Reigns quickly transitioned to pro wrestling and signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2010. He is now regarded as one of the faces of the company, and his win over Punk on Sunday gave him his seventh career world title.
