Way-Too-Early WWE WrestleMania 43 Dream Match Card Predictions
After one of the most disappointing WrestleMania seasons in a long time—the build to 42 was lackluster, and the in-ring work didn't live up to the hype—WWE fans have shifted their attention to potential dream matches at WrestleMania 43.
Triple H and WWE Creative need to immediately shift their focus to next year and ensure a proper build to the company's biggest event. With a dramatic need for a bounce-back performance, several big names could ensure next year's Show of Shows is a success.
Here are the way-too-early match card predictions for WrestleMania 43.
The Rock vs. Roman Reigns
The biggest possible match WWE could book for WrestleMania 43 would be The Rock returning to the company and challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.
From a storyline perspective, there is so much history between the two Superstars, dating back to some of their first on-screen interactions in 2015.
Add in the fact that the two men are cousins and could rehash their Bloodline interactions, and this program could carry the company for a year-long build culminating in a WrestleMania main event.
It's also a dream match for TKO, Triple H and WWE Creative, as it would be a meeting between the company's top star right now and one of the most popular performers in the history of wrestling who also has made a name for himself in Hollywood.
With the unique combination of actual storyline implications between the two cousins, as well as the mainstream notoriety their matchup would generate for casual fans, pitting The Rock against Reigns at WrestleMania 43 is a main event worthy of the stage.
Cody Rhodes vs. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
While some fans argue that Cody Rhodes is overrated, it's clear Triple H and WWE Creative see him as a marquee attraction and key focal point of their weekly programming.
Given the string of landmark moments Cody Rhodes has enjoyed since returning to WWE from All Elite Wrestling, it's reasonable to expect him in a marquee position at WrestleMania 43. The only question is: Which Superstar feels big enough to share that stage with The American Nightmare?
If he's willing, the answer is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. His match with Kevin Owens was an incredible WrestleMania moment four years ago, but The Texas Rattlesnake likely has at least one more bout in him for Rhodes.
Because WrestleMania 43 is currently scheduled for Saudi Arabia, WWE has every incentive to stack the card to match the enormous investment involved—and a dream match pitting Cody Rhodes against Austin would almost certainly energize both the global audience and the Saudi backers behind the show.
Oba Femi vs. Gunther
One of the few shining moments from WrestleMania 42 was Oba Femi shocking the world and defeating Brock Lesnar in the opening match of Night 2.
To build on that momentum, Gunther should be the man to challenge Femi next year.
Over the next several months, while Oba Femi continues to steamroll everyone put in front of him, Gunther should set his sights on Brock Lesnar—cashing in his favor with Paul Heyman to lock in a showdown with The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam in Minneapolis on August 1 and 2.
After The Ring General defeats another legend and ends Lesnar's career, Femi should be the man who steps up to the Austrian and looks to avenge the honor of The Beast. The stage would be set for an all-time hoss battle.
Gunther has created incredible momentum by beating every major Superstar on the roster and retiring several of the biggest names in the sport. Letting Femi stand toe-to-toe with him at WrestleMania 43 and come out victorious would guarantee his place as a top draw.
