Update on Cody Rhodes' Injury, Title Plans
2 of 4
Cody Rhodes suffered a significant eye injury during Saturday's WrestleMania 42 main event against Randy Orton, but according to a report from Bodyslam+ on Patreon, it will not affect his reign as the undisputed WWE champion for the time being, as the company continues to monitor his health.
That is a positive, because with the current "Cody fatigue," the last thing the company needs is to take the title off of him and give that character a reason to chase it again.
Add to that the ongoing story with Orton and their unfinished business as of Saturday's show, and you have plenty of reason to keep the title where it is, hope for a speedy recovery, and continue with things as they are.
Obviously, if that becomes impossible due to any health concerns, that is a different story. For now, though, keeping the gold around Rhodes' waist until there is a more definitive timeline or prognosis is the right call.
IShowSpeed Earns Praise for Performance
3 of 4
IShowSpeed was the central figure of the Six-Man Tag Team Match that kicked off this year's event on Saturday, and he rose to the occasion, delivering a fine performance that won some over and, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, earned him praise behind the scenes.
"IshowSpeed did get praise for throwing himself into wrestling and being committed to the spot for his match," Sapp wrote.
He was the bright spot of the otherwise forgettable match, and his post-bout dive from the top rope, onto Logan Paul and through the announce table, was a viral hit from the first night of action.
That spot with Paul seemed to suggest a match between the two in some form or fashion may not be out of the equation. Speed will likely be back at some point, and at that point, he will have to answer for his attack on Paul. That should be the start of something significant and a high-profile match featuring two mainstream celebrities to boot.
Reason for Street Fight Gimmick in Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio

Sapp also reported for Fightful Select that, "The Street Fight stipulation for Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio was added within the last week because of the number of singles matches."
It makes sense that WWE would want to add a stipulation to spruce up the card and break up the monotony of singles matches. With that said, advertising it as such and injecting it into the story would have been a better utilization of the gimmick.
The appeal of the match in the first place was the return of The Demon persona of Balor, rendering the need for a special stipulation unnecessary.
Still, the story was still told, with Balor eventually devastating Mysterio with a Coup de Grace through a table to get a measure of revenge for the betrayal that resulted in him being booted from Judgment Day.
