Did Angel Reese Shade Sky While Praising Dream on Video After WNBA Offseason Trade?

Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese is settling in nicely to her new surroundings.

As the team opened training camp, the third-year forward told reporters that Dream stars Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard communicated that "you don't have to worry about anything other than basketball" with the organization.

Reese said that has been her experience so far:

Whether it was her intention or not, some will read Reese's remarks as a subtle shot at her old team.

The Chicago Sky have been a disorganized mess on and off the court, and the two-time All-Star witnessed that firsthand during her time in the Windy City.

Chicago won 23 total games between 2024 and 2025. Teresa Weatherspoon was fired as head coach after just one year at the helm. The Sky been perpetually rebuilding without actually trying to fully rebuild. Valuable draft capital has been leveraged in win-now trades that didn't deliver wins.

The franchise has at least upgraded its practice situation, moving from a public rec center in Deerfield, Illinois, to UIC's Flames Athletic Center. It's still unclear when the standalone practice facility, which was first announced in 2024, will be completed, though.

Then there's the fact that Reese's exit was merely the latest example of the Sky failing to retain a cornerstone figure.

Suspending Reese for one half toward the end of the 2025 season was probably the beginning of the end. The punishment arose from an interview in which she was critical of the roster-building approach and the general structure within the organization. In the case of the latter, she merely echoed what fans have said for years.

Reese reportedly didn't request a trade from Chicago, so she appeared to be ready to head into Year 3 with the team. She may not have been all that disappointed when an exit plan emerged, though.

Leaving all of the Sky's issues behind, she could be headed toward her best year yet in the W.
