Brock Lesnar Teases WWE Retirement in Video After WrestleMania 42 Loss to Oba Femi

Timothy RappApr 19, 2026

It would appear that Brock Lesnar's time in the ring is over.

The longtime WWE star appeared to call it quits on Sunday at WrestleMania 42 after losing to Oba Femi in the opening match of the event, literally leaving his gear in the ring:

If Lesnar is indeed finished with the WWE and his wrestling career, it's the end of an era. He made his television debut for WWE all the way back in 2002 and in three separate stints with the company won the heavyweight title, three Universal Championships, two Royal Rumbles and headlined WrestleMania five times.

In 2014, he ended The Undertaker's unbeaten run at WrestleMania.

His wrestling career was paused twice for other ventures, one for a short-lived attempt at playing in the NFL and the other for a very successful UFC career that included winning the heavyweight title, though issues with diverticulitis—and later a failed drug test—ultimately cut his MMA career short.

The WWE has seen its fair share of high-profile retirements this year. John Cena retired in December and AJ Styles retired after losing at January's Royal Rumble. Both lost to Gunther.

Lesnar went out a different way, but it appears another WWE legend potentially called it a career.
