Bryson DeChambeau Withdraws from Final Round of LIV Golf Event Due to Injury After Masters Struggles

Bryson DeChambeau announced he's withdrawing from LIV Golf's event in Mexico City.

The two-time U.S. Open champion said he's dealing with wrist discomfort and said he wants to focus on LIV's next tournament at Trump National Golf Club, which tees off on May 7:

DeChambeau was two over through the first three rounds in Mexico City, putting him well behind leader Jon Rahm at 14 under. At times, he looked visibly frustrated with the playing conditions at Club de Golf Chapultepec.

His withdrawal adds to what has been a frustrating week and change.

DeChambeau was the winner in LIV's Singapore and South Africa events, leading many to consider him a top contender for the Masters. Instead, he didn't even make the cut at Augusta National. A triple bogey on the final hole of the second round put him on the wrong side of the cut line.

The hits kept coming as LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil had to publicly address rumors the breakaway golf series is in dire financial straits with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund reconsidering its commitment.

LIV's 2026 season will continue as planned. Beyond that, nothing is for sure.

That leaves DeChambeau, Rahm and some of LIV's top stars in a tough spot.

Patrick Reed is serving what amounts to a one-year suspension from the PGA Tour. If that's what the path back to the tour requires of DeChambeau, then he's incentivized to start the clock as early as possible. However, that could be easier said than done depending on his contract.

For now, the 32-year-old's focus remains on LIV.
