Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker
After Undertaker arrived to cost Lesnar the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the fans were left wondering why the Deadman had decided to make his return at Battleground instead of months ago at WrestleMania.
The answer could be that another major swerve is coming.
There are few wrestling fans who will doubt that as long as Undertaker doesn’t suffer a concussion in the match, this could be an excellent in-ring battle. The problem for many members of the WWE Universe is how the match will come to an end without damaging either man.
One intriguing possibility is the return of Kane to help The Undertaker since Lesnar had attacked him several weeks ago. With Kane and Undertaker teaming up to beat down Lesnar, an appearance from Sting would complete an incredible moment and set the stage for Undertaker vs. Sting at WrestleMania 32.
Regardless of how the match ends, there is little doubt the matchup will feature major long-term storyline implications and controversy.
Seth Rollins vs. John Cena
One of the most unexpected bouts on the SummerSlam card is the title vs. title match between WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and United States champion John Cena, and there are many questions about how it will shake out.
WWE is selling wrestling fans that one man will walk out with both championships, but it’s hard to see that coming to fruition. Instead, this could be the perfect place for a Sheamus Money in the Bank cash-in attempt.
Rollins has been booked poorly as the heel champion, and getting cashed-in on by Sheamus would be the root cause of a face turn. After teasing tension between the current champion and the pair of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, the continuation of the feud via Sheamus working with The Authority would be entertaining.
The hope is that Cena retains the United States Championship somehow, though, as his open challenges have added legitimacy to the secondary title and made Raw more entertaining each week.
Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns
The tag team match between Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns will be considered a midcard storyline at SummerSlam, but the bout has the chance to steal the show.
As much as rumors have stated Sting will not be at SummerSlam, WWE not booking him on the show would be a mistake. If he doesn’t get involved in the main event to set up a bout with Undertaker, then Sting should get involved in this feud.
The hope is that Wyatt and Harper find a third member of their stable and take the advantage over Reigns and Ambrose in the match. Just as it looks like there is no hope for the faces in peril, Sting can come out and make the save.
With Lesnar and Undertaker likely going away after SummerSlam, WWE needs a marquee name to stick around, and Sting making sporadic appearances in pursuit of Wyatt could make for the most interesting storyline heading into the fall.
