Delanie Walker Injury: Updates on Titans TE's Thumb and Return
The Tennessee Titans got a bit of a scare when Delanie Walker suffered a thumb injury that required stitches.
On Aug. 6, John Glennon of the Tennessean reported Walker did not suffer a break in his injured hand. According to Glennon, Walker hurt the thumb when jostling for a pass over the middle with teammate Da’Norris Searcy.
Walker did not play in either of the Titans' preseason games but will return for the team's next contest against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Walker Comments on Return to Lineup
Wednesday, Aug. 26
“You always want to get to the regular season," Walker said, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. but it’s good to practice and work the rust off, and I haven’t gotten the opportunity to play with Marcus yet, so I am looking forward to that,’’ Walker said. “Marcus is playing great. I’m looking forward to being out there with my teammates.”
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt passed along the word of Walker's imminent return on Monday, via the team.
Wyatt reported Walker was present at practice on Aug. 7, but Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com noted he was not taking part in drills.
"The trainers just wanted me to be smart about it, so I just went inside and made sure everything was OK with it," Walker said, per Glennon.
Zach Bingham of ESPN Radio Nashville snapped a photo of Walker in the locker room after practice, and a small bandage was visible on the webbing of Walker's left thumb:
Should Walker continue to sit out meaningful preseason snaps, that would mean first-team reps for either Anthony Fasano or Craig Stevens. How each player performs could potentially impact Whisenhunt's decision-making process regarding the team's backup tight end going into the regular season.
