KC Concepcion Makes Bold Claim About His Place In 2026 NFL Draft Class, 'Did I Stutter?'

Adam WellsApr 16, 2026

One week away from the first round of the 2026 NFL draft, KC Concepcion wants all 32 teams to know where he belongs in the hierarchy of wide receivers in this year's class.

In an article for The Players' Tribune, Concepcion wrote in no uncertain terms that he is "the best receiver" in this draft and closed his remarks with: "Did I stutter?"

That final line is a reference to Concepcion's speech impediment that he previously wrote about on Instagram after he was on the receiving end of some negative comments coming out of the scouting combine:

"I just wanna say something if you have a speech impediment there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking. This is a part of me. This is who I am. I cannot control this. I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you."

The Players' Tribune article also expands on Concepcion's history of growing up with a speech impediment, while explaining that he used to only feel good on weekends when he didn't have to go to school and deal with teasing from other kids.

Concepcion added that the other place he "got to be free" was on a football field. He has taken that passion for the sport and turned it into a career that will result in him being selected possibly in the first round of the draft on April 23.

The 21-year-old made the All-America team last season at Texas A&M. He recorded a career-high 919 receiving yards in 13 games for the Aggies.

B/R's NFL scouting department has Concepcion ranked as the 18th-best player in the 2026 class. He is projected to be the third receiver off the board by B/R, after Carnell Tate and Jordyn Tyson.

Regardless of the projections, though, Concepcion is making a strong argument to be one of the players who it is easiest to root for succeeding in the NFL with his passionate argument about his talent and work ethic as he prepares for the biggest moment of his life thus far.
