Latest WWE Rumors on Iyo Sky, Tiffany Stratton, More Ahead of WrestleMania 42

Erik BeastonApr 16, 2026

Almost as interesting as what might be on the WWE WrestleMania 42 card this year is what was supposed to be, especially with stars such as Iyo Sky and Tiffany Stratton missing big moments (and paydays) while watching the show from the sidelines.

The latest collection of insider reports dives deeper into previous expectations for both and, in one case, what is yet to come.

Update on Iyo Sky vs. Asuka

Monday Night RAW

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that, after Iyo Sky removed a challenge to Asuka for a match at WrestleMania from her social media, he heard that the match could happen at Backlash.

He added that it is no sure thing.

Sky missing out on a WrestleMania 42 match is among the biggest surprises surrounding this year's show, if only because she has been so instrumental to the product over the last 12 months.

She entered last year's show as women's world champion and retained her title. She also headlined Evolution against Rhea Ripley, teamed with The Eradicator to win tag team titles, and has been engaged in a lengthy rivalry with her former Damage CTRL teammates.

That the blow-off to that rivalry with Asuka is reserved for Backlash or, worse, a typical episode of Raw is a disappointment for The Genius of the Sky, The Empress of Tomorrow, and their fans.

Original WrestleMania Plans for Tiffany Stratton

Count former WWE women's champion Tiffany Stratton as another Superstar missing this year's show who was originally slated for it.

Ibou of Self Made Pro reported that Stratton was originally planned for a Triple Threat Match against Jordynne Grace and Giulia, presumably with the Women's United States Championship on the line.

Much like Sky, she was an integral part of WWE's women's division over the last year and scored a monumental victory over Charlotte Flair in one of last year's marquee match-ups.

She had a big return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. She was the final competitor defeated by Ripley in the Elimination Chamber, giving fans the impression that, although she may not compete for the top titles, she would still have some presence on the WrestleMania card.

Instead, she is one of a handful of stars, joining Sky and former world heavyweight champion Damian Priest, who were left off this year's card despite playing significant roles in WWE over the last year or two.

NXT Call-Ups Post-WrestleMania

NXT

Bodyslam+ reported that Jacy Jayne, Ethan Page, Joe Hendry, and Sol Ruca are all being considered for main roster call-ups post-WrestleMania 42.

It is easy to see why Jayne and Page would be heading up. Both have conquered their respective divisions, been world champions, and accomplished pretty much all that there is to do in WWE. In the case of Jayne, she even entered this year's Royal Rumble and enjoyed a solid run.

The same can be said for Ruca, who has captured gold, competed in major matches, and achieved everything she could, sans for a run with the top women's title.

The surprise here is Hendry, who may be main roster-ready but feels like someone who still has plenty to give NXT, from a star power perspective if nothing else.

It will be interesting to see where everyone slots in on Raw and SmackDown, too, especially as the shows struggle to get everyone a spot on TV every week as it is. Still, NXT call-ups are an annual expectation and a fun, exciting moment for fans and talent alike. Expect to see the first ones as early as Monday's Raw After Mania.
