Rueben Bain Jr. Slide Predicted in New Todd McShay NFL Mock Draft, Landing Spot Revealed

Zach BacharApr 15, 2026

Miami edge-rusher Rueben Bain Jr. was projected to fall down the draft order in the latest 2026 mock draft from The Ringer's Todd McShay.

Bain slipped to the No. 14 overall pick in McShay's mock before he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens.

History surrounding the Miami standout's arm length of 30 7/8 inches factored into the slide.

"From what I've been told, Bain could still go as high as no. 9 to Kansas City, but his arm length is a real concern and may contribute to a draft-day slide (no edge with sub-31-inch arms has gone in the first round in at least two decades)," McShay wrote.

Despite concerns about Bain's arm length, he's coming off a productive 2025 season in which he helped the Hurricanes advance to the College Football Playoff Championship Game.

The 21-year-old recorded 54 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 16 games. He was named a consensus All-American, as Miami owned the No. 5 scoring defense in the country by allowing a mere 14.8 points per game.

In the most recent mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, Bain was taken with the No. 8 overall pick.

Still, he could be on the board later than expected if teams aren't willing to look past his arm length.
