New 49ers NFL Mock Draft Expert Roundup for 1st-Round Pick

Apr 21, 2026

It's another offseason in which uncertainty lingers around the San Francisco 49ers, yet there aren't many organizations you trust more than them.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have consistently worked wonders, no matter the number of injury crises and contract disputes the organization has endured over the past few years. They do face pressure in unfamiliar territory, being behind the Seahawks and Rams in the NFC West.

Ahead of the first round of the draft on April 23, here's a look at what experts are projecting the 49ers will do with the No. 27 pick:

Selection (No. 27): WR Denzel Boston, Washington

The San Francisco 49ers continue to reshape their wide receiver corps after moving on from Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and possible Jauan Jennings.

Future Hall of Famer Mike Evans is now the passing game's centerpiece, with far more expected of former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall. Christian Kirk was also brought in to help. But the 49ers' front office can't overlook Evans' age, Pearsall's injury history and Kirk's recent play.

"Denzel Boston is a strong fit for Kyle Shanahan's offense," B/R scout Damian Parson said. "He wins on contested catches, back-shoulder fades and working across the middle of the field. He is a near-perfect pick to be Evans' understudy. The opportunity to provide quarterback Brock Purdy with ample weapons should be a priority for the Niners."

Summary

The 49ers can go in several different directions. Considering how ferocious both of their biggest divisional rivals are in the trenches, it would be sensible to draft a top prospect to add to the offensive or defensive line. A wide receiver can't be ruled out based on the current options there and George Kittle's uncertain status for the upcoming season after tearing his Achilles against the Eagles in the Wild Card Round.
