Chiefs Draft Star WR for Patrick Mahomes in New NFL Mock Drafts from Mel Kiper, Todd McShay
The Kansas City Chiefs could choose to add a weapon for Patrick Mahomes with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Kansas City was projected to add Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson in the latest mock drafts from ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and The Ringer's Todd McShay.
"We can't ignore Tyson's durability concerns, considering he missed a third of his possible college games because of injuries, but we also can't ignore his fantastic skill set when he is on the field," Kiper wrote. "He makes tough catches in traffic and had 711 yards last season. I'm already picturing Mahomes buying time in the pocket and firing 50-50 balls to Tyson in the end zone."

Meanwhile, McShay highlighted Tyson's ability to separate from opposing defenders.
"He's a 6-foot-2-plus target who consistently separates and is a reliable option (1.6 percent drop rate last season), traits that Mahomes desperately needs at the position," McShay wrote.
ESPN's Peter Schrager noted that Tyson landed on the Chiefs in his recent mock draft as well.
Tyson showed promise during his freshman season at Colorado in 2022 before he suffered a torn ACL, MCL and PCL.
It caused him to miss almost the entire 2023 season, but he suited up in 14 games with Arizona State in 2024 and caught 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Tyson was sidelined for multiple games in 2025 due to hamstring issues, although he still hauled in 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight scores in nine appearances.
He was listed as the No. 9 overall player in the 2026 draft class on the most recent big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
Despite Tyson's injury concerns, the Chiefs might still target him after none of their wide receivers finished with more than 587 yards last season.
