WWE Reveals Greatest Moment in WrestleMania History, Check Out the Full Rankings from Top 42 List

Mike ChiariApr 15, 2026

Ahead of WrestleMania 42 this weekend, WWE named Hulk Hogan's bodyslam of Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3 as the greatest moment in WrestleMania history on Wednesday.

In recent weeks, WWE has been posting videos on YouTube to count down the top 42 moments in the history of pro wrestling's biggest event, and it concluded Wednesday with The Irresistible Force meeting The Immovable Object, as WWE Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon put it back in 1987.

While there have been countless memorable and iconic moments over the course of WrestleMania's history, it is difficult to argue against the showdown between Hogan and Andre at WrestleMania 3 topping the list.

Hogan and Andre are regarded as two of the biggest stars in the history of the business, and they battled it out in front of a billed attendance of over 93,000 fans at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, which was a WrestleMania attendance record that stood for 29 years.

While Hogan and Andre were both beloved babyfaces for quite some time, Andre shockingly turned heel by attacking Hogan during the build toward WrestleMania, which set the stage for their legendary match.

WWE played up the notion that Andre had never been bodyslammed during his career, which is what made Hogan slamming Andre en route to retaining the WWE Championship such a significant moment.

Fittingly, Hogan vs. Andre will be honored Friday as part of the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Las Vegas.

That match is set to become the second-ever bout to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as an "immortal moment," following last year's induction of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13.
