New Todd McShay NFL Mock Draft 2026 Drops with Major Trades in Top 10, What Else Changed?
The Ringer NFL draft expert Todd McShay projected several significant trades in his latest 2026 NFL mock draft, which dropped Wednesday.
While his projected No. 1 overall pick of Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza to the Las Vegas Raiders remained unchanged from his previous mock, McShay shook things up from there, starting with Texas Tech pass-rusher David Bailey going second overall to the New York Jets, rather than Ohio State pass-rusher Arvell Reese.
McShay also predicted a deluge of trades from there, making his projected top 10 picks look like this:
| 1. Raiders | Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana |
| 2. Jets | David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech |
| 3. Saints (via AZ) | Arvell Reese, EDGE, Ohio State |
| 4. Titans | Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame |
| 5. Giants | Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami |
| 6. Cowboys (via CLE) | Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State |
| 7. Jets (via WSH) | Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State |
| 8. Cardinals (via NO) | Spencer Fano, OT, Utah |
| 9. Chiefs | Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State |
| 10. Cardinals | Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State |
Given all of the trade activity, the only the top-10 picks that remained the same from McShay's last mock to his current one are Mendoza to the Raiders at No. 1 and Ohio State safety Caleb Downs to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 10.
One of the biggest fallers from McShay's previous mock is Miami pass-rusher Rueben Bain Jr., who he had going fourth overall to the Tennessee Titans.
Now, McShay is projecting Bain to fall to the Baltimore Ravens at No. 14 overall in what could potentially prove to be a major steal.
In terms of risers, McShay didn't even have Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston as a first-round pick in his last mock, but now he has Boston going to the Minnesota Vikings at 18th overall as a complement to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
McShay additionally has Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq going from the 27th overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers to the 19th overall pick to the Carolina Panthers.
In both mocks, Sadiq is the only TE to come off the board in the first round, much like running back with Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love going from the New York Giants at No. 5 last time to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4 this time.
Also, McShay notably had Mendoza as the only quarterback taken in the first round in his previous mock draft, but his new mock has Alabama's Ty Simpson sneaking in at No. 30.
McShay projects the Cardinals to move up from No. 34 in the second round to the 30th overall pick in the first round in a trade with the Miami Dolphins to nab their potential franchise QB in Simpson.
The accuracy of McShay's new mock will be put to the test next week when the first round of the 2026 NFL draft takes place in Pittsburgh on April 23.
