Former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was excited to become teammates with Matthew Stafford after the Los Angeles Rams picked him with the No. 13 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft.
"He's one of the greatest of all time...we watched his film all the time while I was at 'Bama...I couldn't ask for a better situation," Simpson said, per NFL Network's Bridget Condon.
He was also looking forward to joining a Rams squad coming off an NFC Championship Game appearance.

"I was super blessed and super excited," Simpson said, via Condon. "The fact that an organization like the Los Angeles Rams believed in me and took a chance on me I'm so grateful for."
Simpson wrapped up a junior season with the Crimson Tide in which he started all 15 games, helping the team finish with an 11-4 record and make a College Football Playoff appearance.
The 23-year-old completed 64.5 percent of his throws for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to five interceptions. He also rushed for a pair of scores.
Simpson was listed as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 28 overall player in the 2026 draft class on the April 6 big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson compared Simpson to four-time Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins in his scouting report.
"Ty Simpson flashed potential to be an NFL starting quarterback with a savvy, polished skill set that translates well into NFL offenses," Parson wrote.
Simpson will now join a Rams quarterback room that includes Stafford and Stetson Bennett.
