George Pickens Trade Interest Updated by Cowboys' Stephen Jones Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft

Mike ChiariApr 14, 2026

Despite his lack of a long-term contract with the Dallas Cowboys, Pro Bowl wide receiver George Pickens is apparently not generating interest on the trade market.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones said Tuesday during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan that Cowboys have "had no one call with interest in George Pickens."

Pickens had been set to become a free agent this offseason, but the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on him, meaning he is in line to make $27.2 million in 2026 if and when he signs the franchise tender.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pickens was traded to the Cowboys last offseason.

Dallas sent a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick to Pittsburgh for Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick, and the 25-year-old wideout paid immediate dividends for the Cowboys.

Playing in all 17 games, Pickens set career highs across the board with 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns en route to his first Pro Bowl nod and First All-Pro Second Team selection.

With CeeDee Lamb missing a few games due to injury, Pickens was the Cowboys' leading receiver last season, and quarterback Dak Prescott's No. 1 option.

Despite their explosive offense, the Cowboys only managed a 7-9-1 record, and they missed the playoffs for a second straight year.

Assuming Pickens either signs his franchise tender or works out a long-term extension with the Cowboys, most of Dallas' top offensive weapons will be back in the fold in 2026, including Pickens, Lamb, tight end Jake Ferguson and running back Javonte Williams.

Last offseason, the Cowboys traded superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons shortly before the start of the 2025 regular season after he requested a trade due to the two sides being unable to reach a long-term agreement.

There is no indication that Pickens has asked for or plans to ask for a trade, and that may be why the Cowboys have not been receiving trade calls focused on Pickens, per Jones.
