Aaron Judge, Mike Trout React to Making MLB History with 2-HR Game in Yankees' Win vs. Angels

Adam WellsApr 14, 2026

Aaron Judge and Mike Trout put on a show at Yankee Stadium on Monday night in the New York Yankees' 11-10 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The two stars both went 2-for-5 with two homers, marking just the second time in MLB history that a pair of players with at least three MVP awards each homered twice in the same game, per STATS Perform.

Judge joked after the game that he was going to talk trash to Trout after the Angels star earlier in the night before his bat came alive:

"I was going to talk some smack to him after the one he hit all the way to the warning track, but I didn't get a chance to and then he answers right back with two big homers for him. You put that guy in a clutch situation, a big moment and he's going to show up every single time, so it's fun going back and forth with a guy like that, especially in New York and the Bronx."

Judge got things started with a two-run shot in the bottom of the first. Trout responded in the top of the sixth with a three-run blast that tied the score at seven.

The Yankees captain put his team back on top with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth, prompting Trout to offer a little smirk from the outfield.

"It was great. That's baseball for you," Trout told reporters after the game. "It's what fans want, and to be able to see something like that, pretty cool."

Trout's second homer of the night put the Angels up 10-8 in the eighth. It looked like that would be enough for Los Angeles to steal a win, but Trent Grisham's two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth tied the score.

Three batters later, José Caballero scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch by Angels closer Jordan Romano.

After the Yankees were able to escape with a win, Judge had nothing but praise for Trout's performance on Monday night and throughout his career.

"He's the greatest, the greatest of all time," Judge said. " … I know he's had some tough injuries over the years, but to see himself back in a better spot this year -- every time he comes to the Bronx, man, he puts on a show. I hate to see it, but it's fun competing against a guy like that."

This game marked Trout's first time with a homer at Yankee Stadium since May 26, 2018. He now has 10 career homers in the Bronx and raised his slash line to .345/.426/.689 in 31 games at the stadium.

Judge now has three homers in his last two games after going seven straight games without a long ball prior to Sunday. The three-time AL MVP is now hitting .233/.333/.550 in 16 games this season.

Trout and Judge will be back at it on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. ET.
