Penn State, Eagles and Phillies, Whew, What a Weekend!

I need to address something as a Penn State Alum (not so proud today).  For my reader(s) who have followed the trip to MD Anderson, you are aware that my husband has cancer.  He has not been to a Penn State game since 1973 so Saturday was to be a major thrill.  Seems PSU just ain't what it use to be, progress works and the town - my dorm included are much different.  His dorm, Nittany 35 (famous/infamous for many reasons) is gone replaced with spanky new grad student housing. 

Being old, we have my handicap tag to park closer to Beaver Stadium (it is like not just the athletes but the stadium took steriods).  The students were drowned out by alums who actually learned the words to the school song - not us - and did not yell Ohhhhhh Sh-t during kick off.  Upon leaving the game in the 3rd quarter to make the trip home he noticed all the team magnets were missing from his car - ALL the teams!  We were pranksters back in the day (putting a VW on the sidewalk, still in the empty dorm room etc) but we never stole from Alums.  The magnets will eventually be replaced but not the bad feeling.  Maybe some of you can go back again, but for us, 102" TV will replace another trip to PSU.  My husband's first and last trip back to school ended poorly thanks to ignorant students.

On to the Eagles (Iggles) and McNabb - I was off by predicting he would be injured by game 5.  He managed it in game one!  If you had Iggles for fantasy defense...whoa, what a day!  McDermitt made me a believer yesterday.  Now let's see if they can go 10 and 6!We watched the game at JJ Elephant, where, sorry to say, not many people came out to support All Things Pawssible.  We did get to watch the game with Scott Lefko (#77) who played with Iggles and PSU in my day.  Sporting our Vick's an Eagle. Hide your Beagle tee shirts and eating "dogs" and being visited by rescue animals made the day quite nice.  Next week it is NO vs Iggles...hmmm, hope Iggles defense has a down week!  Week 3 and will the fans call for Vick if Kolb does not catch the ball next week...bet they weill!  He was carted along to the game to keep him out of trouble.  My offer still stands to Vick, come see me and now I will up the ante and be his very own addiction counselor LOL!

Phillies - they are arrogant and not fan friendly with a few exceptions...but, they are playing great ball.  Got a twofer yesterday - and Pedro pitched amazing 8 innings.  I think the Phillies need to  try Myers as a closer but hey, Charlie sure is not listening to me.  Lidge almost blew another one, but almost does not count and we won with both Lidge and Madson.  On to the playoffs and hope our bats get hot!  They have been strangely quiet these days!
