Kevin Coleman Jr. NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Miami Dolphins WR

Damian ParsonApr 16, 2026

The Miami Dolphins selected Missouri WR Kevin Coleman Jr. with the No. 177 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Kevin Coleman Jr is a dynamic matchup slot-receiver prospect. He projects as a rotational receiver on an NFL roster who can climb the depth chart.

Coleman Jr's career began at an HBCU, Jackson State, where he enrolled as a former 4-star recruit. As a true freshman, he earned the SWAC Freshman of the Year award. He became a nomad and did not stay at one school for more than a season. After Jackson State, he transferred to Louisville, Mississippi State, and Missouri.

Where He Wins

2 of 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 27 Massachusetts at Missouri

- Speed to create vertical explosives from the slot

- Quick plant and open on quick hitches, curls, and option routes

- Pre-snap motion to create easy access to open grass

- Quick gear shifting to accelerate to top speed and put defenders in conflict

- Short area quickness and change of direction to lose defenders in coverage

- Strong spatial awareness and feel after the catch to make the first defender miss

Areas of Improvement

3 of 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: AUG 28 Central Arkansas at Missouri

- Thin frame; susceptible to being jammed by physical defenders

- Play strength is below-average; struggles to play through physicality and gain yards after contact

- Limited wingspan and catch radius create competitive disadvantages in contested catch situations

- Slot-only receiver; offers little outside alignment flexibility
