Angel Reese Hypes Dream's 1st-Round Pick in WNBA Draft, 'Another Walking Double-Double'

Andrew PetersApr 13, 2026

Angel Reese is a fan of her new team's first-round draft pick.

Reese, who was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream last week, hyped her squad's selection of Madina Okot at No. 13 on Monday, calling her "another walking double double."

As Reese said, Okot was a walking double-double during her time with South Carolina and Mississippi State. She put up 12.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game for the Gamecocks last year as one of college basketball's most prolific rebounders.

She should pair well alongside Reese, who has already established herself as one of the best rebounders in the league. Last season, she put up 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds in an outstanding second WNBA season.

The Sky stunned the WNBA world last week when they sent Reese to Atlanta in return for the Dream's 2027 first-round pick and 2028 first-round pick. Atlanta also received the right to swap second-round picks with the Sky in 2028.

The Dream are coming off an outstanding 30-14 season, their best in franchise history, but it ended with a disappointing first-round exit to the Indiana Fever. Atlanta clearly wanted to make a splash this offseason, and it did so by trading for Reese.

In addition to Okot, the Dream drafted North Carolina's Indya Nivar in the second round. They'll look to the rookies to make an impact immediately.
