Rory McIlroy's Heart Rate on Final Tee Shot, Steps Taken at Masters Revealed in Whoop Data

Timothy RappApr 13, 2026

Rory McIlroy certainly felt the pressure during the final hole at Sunday's Masters as he sought his second green jacket. He's a champion because the pressure didn't get the best of him.

According to sports and business writer Joe Pompliano, who got data from McIlroy's Whoop wristband, the star golfer's heart rate "spiked to 135 BPM during his tee shot on No. 18, dropped to 121 BPM during his approach shot, fell further to 105 BPM during his winning putt, and then jumped back up to 150 BPM during his celebration. His resting heart rate for the week was 47-49 BPM."

He also walked over 24,000 steps on Sunday alone and above 91,000 for the tournament, so The Masters is quite the workout.

As for McIlroy's routine during the PGA Tour season, Pompliano noted that includes "no caffeine after 2 p.m.; last meal at least two hours before bed; magnesium and theanine for sleep quality; blue-light-blocking glasses in the evening; sauna or Epsom salt bath when available; and a cool room temperature for sleep."
