New WWE Rumors on Nikki Bella's WrestleMania Status and Sheamus' Timeline to Return from Injury

It sounds like Nikki Bella could be the latest veteran WWE Superstar to be sidelined for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas this weekend.

Bella was set to team with her twin sister, Brie, in a four-way Women's Tag Team Championship bout set for Night 1 of WrestleMania 42 on April 18 against Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, and The Irresistible Forces. However, she suffered an ankle injury during the March 27 episode of SmackDown Live, putting her in danger of missing the biggest show of the year.

According to the Wrestling Observer (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Bella's status for WrestleMania 42 is "too close to call."

In addition to Bella's potential absence, fellow veteran Sheamus is also expected to miss WrestleMania 42 as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury. During a Q&A, Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp updated his recovery timeline.

"Sheamus, I think, is still going to be out for a few months," Sapp said (h/t Carrier). "He's older and it's a shoulder injury from what I understand. It's unfortunate, but yeah."

It's clear that WWE will be relying on its younger generation of Superstars during WrestleMania 42 this weekend.
