Yankees, Mets Trolled by MLB Fans amid Matching 5-Game Losing Streaks
The baseball hasn't been great in New York of late.
Both the New York Yankees and Mets—two teams with major expectations heading into the 2026 season—are currently each mired in a five-game losing streak after the Yanks lost 5-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday and the Mets lost 1-0 to the Athletics.
Suffice to say, angst has settled into the Big Apple:

The Yankees opened the season 7-1 before losing six of their eight. In those six losses they've given up five or more runs four times and scored three or fewer runs three times.
The Yanks will try to return to form this week, with the Los Angeles Angels in town for a four-game tilt.
The Mets have gone ice cold at the dish, meanwhile, with two or fewer runs in four of their last five games. During the losing streak they've scored just nine runs.
"At times chasing, passive, in-between," manager Carlos Mendoza said of the team's at-bats in the series against the Athletics. "There'd be a few innings where it's non-competitive at-bats. Then today I thought there were a few guys who hit balls hard at people. But yeah, it's not creating enough traffic to put together a rally."
Mets' players, meanwhile, believe their fortunes at the plate will turn around:
Life won't get easier for the Mets, with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers this week.
