Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson Lands UFC Contract, Debut Date Revealed After WWE Stint

Former University of Minnesota star and Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Gable Steveson has officially signed with UFC.

Steveson is set to make his UFC debut on July 11 at UFC 329 in Las Vegas.

Steveson won NCAA championships at Minnesota in 2021 and 2022 and took home a gold medal at 125 kilograms at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

He also recently signed with Real American Freestyle wrestling, with which he is set to make his debut on May 30 in Arlington, Texas.

The announcement came as Steveson sat alongside Jon Jones, with whom he has been training, at UFC 327 on Saturday night in Miami.

His UFC debut will take place as part of the promotion's International Fight Week in Las Vegas from July 9 through July 12.

Fight Week could also feature Conor McGregor after both he and UFC CEO Dana White hinted at his potential return during the event.

Steveson was 21 years old when he defeated Georgia's Geno Petriashvili in the men's Olympic freestyle 125-kilogram final in August 2021

That win led to him signing a multiyear NIL deal with WWE while he was still competing with Minnesota in 2021.

He was drafted to Raw in 2021 and made his television debut with the brand at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.

Steveson was later moved to the NXT roster and made his pro wrestling debut in July 2023 at NXT: The Great American Bash. His bout with Baron Corbin ended in a double count-out.

He was ultimately released from his WWE contract in May 2024, later saying he "wasn't giving 100 percent" during his tenure with the organization.

Steveson will now look to get a new pro career started in both UFC and RAF. He is set to make his RAF debut against Alexandr Romanov in the heavyweight division.
