Zach BacharApr 11, 2026

The Dallas Wings signed forward Alanna Smith to a three-year maximum contract in WNBA free agency on Saturday, according to ESPN's Alexa Philippou.

Smith is coming off a 2025 season with the Minnesota Lynx in which she was named co-Defensive Player of the Year.

She should provide an immediate boost to Dallas' frontcourt as the team looks to take a step forward with star point guard Paige Bueckers leading the way in 2026.

The Wings finished with a 10-34 record last season.

Dallas has been active during free agency, bringing back Arike Ogunbowale and Awak Kuier on new contracts. The Wings also signed forward Jessica Shepard on Saturday.

As for Smith, she's coming off a 2025 campaign in which she averaged 9.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 48.5 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from three-point territory.

Smith has operated as a key piece of Minnesota's playoff runs over the past two seasons, which included a 2024 WNBA Finals appearance.

She'll bring plenty of postseason experience to the Wings, as she has 27 playoff games under her belt.

Smith and the rest of her new teammates in Dallas will begin the 2026 season against the Indiana Fever on May 9.
