Haynes King 2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report for Carolina Panthers QB

Damian ParsonApr 16, 2026

The Carolina Panthers have reportedly signed Georgia Tech QB Haynes King as an undrafted rookie free agent, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Haynes King is a tough, dual-threat quarterback prospect best suited for a game manager-role. He lacks the physical tools and nuance to project as an impact passer in the NFL.

King stepped onto Texas A&M's campus as a former 4-star recruit in the 2020 class. He only played in 10 games for the Aggies, suffered a season-ending injury in 2021 and was benched the following year.

The Texas native then transferred to Georgia Tech in 2023, where he helped elevate the Yellowjackets program. He earned honorable mention All-ACC, first-team All-ACC and ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors.

- Mentally and physically tough as nails; King is willing to do whatever to propel his team to victory.

- Good straight-line athlete capable of picking up yards with his legs as a scrambler and on designed runs.

- Play-extender when protection breaks down yet keeps his eyes downfield.

- Displays solid intermediate touch for layering the football.

Areas of Improvement

- Middling accuracy and ball placement.

- Lacks ball protection as a passer, accounting for over 30 interceptions throughout his career.

- Mechanics go awry when pressured.

- Questionable arm strength on drive throws further down the field.

- Lean and tall frame is not suited for physical high-volume running style.
